Experimental Poetry with Dale Winslow
|
Hey Reader! We're getting right to it today- these are the voice and words of Dale Winslow with visuals created by Dex Hannon as featured on the long awaited experimental poetry album produced by SkinGASM, releasing June 6th, '24 on bandcamp: Interview with Dale:
1: You, in two sentences: I’m an Indie life form held together by earth, yarn, and words – sustained by coffee and a sense of humour. I live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. 2: What was your method for creating the poem, anything you’d like to share on your process? I was specifically intrigued by the words “rice” and “repetition”. As such, I wanted to incorporate something factual about rice as a jumping off point. That fact grew into a contemplation of the walls we build through repetition. For me, poetry writing is organic – the words take you on the journey as you write, and hopefully the resulting poem will take the reader on a journey as well. 3: What were your thoughts on hearing the outcome? I was amazed and excited when I heard the outcome. Somehow the resonances and overall vibe I had in my head while writing the poem were perfectly conveyed in the soundscape created. I literally got goosebumps! What a fantastic experience! 4: What was your connection to SkinGasm before agreeing? I have known Dex on social media for a very long time and have a deep respect for his many creative talents. 5: What’s your favourite rice-based meal? Oh… tough for me to pick one! I love rajas poblanas con pollo on rice, biryani, pad kra pao and of course kheer! 6: What else are you working on/anything to share… I am currently working on two volumes of poetry and a children’s book.
